Kicking off a new three-part arc, Exiles #46 opens "Earn Your Wings" with a cover by Mizuki Sakakibara that assembles a striking lineup of dimension-hopping mutants — a pink-skinned woman in green, a determined blonde in blue-and-yellow, a blue-skinned figure with flowing dark hair, a caped bald figure, and a looming white-furred presence in the shadows behind them. Tony Bedard scripts this interdimensional team book at a moment when the roster looks ready for serious challenges ahead. It's a confident, visually dynamic start to the storyline.

The Exiles are dropped into their next reality to find that Namora, a blue Atlantean who is her world's version of the Sub-Mariner, is the newest member of the team. Distrusting the Timebroker and the cryptic instructions of the Tallus, Namora beats on her new teammates and swims off. The Exiles scope out X-Mansion looking for clues as to what exactly they are meant to be doing and meet Beak. Namora confronts Namor but is trapped and captured by Mr. Fantastic on the Sub-Mariner's behalf.
