Exiles #84
In "Back in the Saddle," the Exiles take a rare breather in their home realities before regrouping on Heather's world, where they aid her version of Alpha Flight in halting a Russian threat tied to the darkforce. Written by Tony Bedard and illustrated by Jim Calafiore, with inks by Mark McKenna, colors by Tom Chu, and letters by Dave Sharpe, the issue delivers a sharp turn when the Timebroker abruptly fires the team—declaring they’ve failed the master plan and replacing them with a new Exiles. The cover, by Paul Pelletier and Rick Magyar, captures the moment with a tense, grounded intensity.

The Exiles return to their home realities for a little down time before gathering on Heather's world, where they assist her version of Alpha Flight in their attempts to stop the Russians from releasing the devastating power of the darkforce. With their mission completed, they are informed by the Timebroker that, due to their unwillingness to comply with the master plan as the bugs have worked it out, they are fired as Exiles and a new team has been recruited to take their place.
