“Living Planet Part Two”

The dimension-hopping Exiles face something truly cosmic in issue #53 — the cover by Mizuki Sakakibara frames the team in awe-struck poses before a looming, cratered planetary visage with glowing eyes, setting an appropriately enormous tone for "Living Planet Part Two." The group — including a blue-skinned woman in gold armor, a figure in a yellow-and-blue costume, a pink-haired member, and a massive white-maned figure among others — looks genuinely shaken, which says plenty about the scale of what they're up against. Tony Bedard and Jim Calafiore were delivering some of Marvel's most imaginative alternate-universe storytelling in 2004, and this cover promises that tradition continues in full force.
