Blue Beetle #2
Part two of "Metamorphosis" arrives in this New 52 launch-era issue, and the cover by Tyler Kirkham and Sal Regla immediately conveys why the title earns its story name — Blue Beetle is caught mid-transformation, the alien scarab armor visibly crawling up his torso and overtaking his body against a blazing orange-red background, his expression a mix of struggle and shock. The tension between host and symbiotic suit practically radiates off the page, with the intricate blue-and-silver tech tendrils snaking across bare skin in vivid detail. Tony Bedard's script and Ig Guara's interior art promise the same kinetic energy DC was delivering across its 2011 line.
