Marc Silvestri

Marc Silvestri was born on March 29, 1958, and has built one of the more consequential careers in American comics over more than four decades — not only as a penciler of considerable skill but as an entrepreneur who helped reshape the industry's business landscape.

Silvestri broke into professional comics in the early 1980s and rose to prominence at Marvel, where his runs on *Uncanny X-Men* and *Wolverine* established his reputation for dynamic figure work, intricate linework, and a muscular visual energy well-suited to action-driven storytelling. His collaborations on those titles made him one of the more sought-after artists of the late 1980s superhero boom.

In 1992, he was among the founding group of creators who launched Image Comics, a watershed moment for creator ownership in the medium. Rather than fold into the broader Image structure, Silvestri established Top Cow Productions as his own studio imprint, where he co-created titles including *Cyberforce* and *The Darkness*, the latter becoming one of Top Cow's most enduring properties.

He has served as CEO of both Top Cow and Image Comics, steering each through significant periods of growth and change. His catalog across nearly 45 years of credited work spans close to 500 issues, reflecting a sustained presence in the industry as artist, writer, inker, and publisher.
