“Down in the Bottoms”

In "Down in the Bottoms," Wolverine staggers from the river into the dark, dripping storm drains, where he’s taken in by Elsie-Dee—only to be left alone when she goes searching for help. There, he crosses paths with Cable, while Sabretooth, lurking in the tunnels, confronts him with a shocking claim: he’s Wolverine’s father. Meanwhile, deep beneath the city, Albert stirs awake. Written by Larry Hama and brought to life with gritty intensity by Marc Silvestri (pencils), Dan Green (inks), and Glynis Oliver (colors), this 1991 issue delivers a tense, atmospheric clash of claws and secrets, with Silvestri and Green’s dynamic cover setting the tone for the underground war.
