☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis collection brings together the crossover event where Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers and the X-Men clash over the fate of mutantkind in San Francisco. As Osborn imposes his authoritarian rule on mutant affairs, Cyclops and Emma Frost lead the X-Men in a desperate stand to protect their people, while the Dark X-Men are formed to undermine them from within. The volume collects the core Utopia storyline, including the key issues from both the Avengers and X-Men sides of the conflict.
"Utopia Chapter One" kicks off a pivotal moment in the mutant saga, as Hank’s deteriorating condition after the Omega Machine’s assault sets the stage for rising tension. With Hellion leading a protest and the Dark X-Men moving in, Cyclops confronts Osborn over San Francisco’s occupation, while Emma’s fury grows as she demands answers—unaware that Xavier himself stands before her, masked by Dark Beast’s illusions. Written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Luke Ross, with inks by Rick Magyar, Mark Pennington, and Ross, and colors by Rain Beredo, this issue’s striking cover by Marc Silvestri and Joe Weems captures the storm brewing beneath the surface.
In "Utopia Chapter One," Simon Trask and his Humanity Now group march on San Francisco, provoking violent clashes with young mutants who are drawn into the chaos. As tensions explode between humans and mutants, Cyclops struggles to maintain order while Norman Osborn deploys the Dark Avengers to crush the uprising. With Xavier’s arrival and a shocking denouncement of his former students, the future of mutantkind hangs in the balance.
In "Utopia Chapter Two," Norman Osborn's engineered X-Men, led by Emma Frost and guided by a mysterious figure claiming to be Charles Xavier—though it's actually Mystique—take their first test under fire. As Simon Trask awakens and begins spreading sentinel technology, a group of mutants including Hellion, Match, Sunspot, Adam X, Avalanche, Meld, and Lorelei spark a riot that forces Osborn's team into action. Meanwhile, Cyclops and the others monitor from the Marin compound, trying to anticipate the next move in a rapidly unraveling conflict.
In "Utopia Chapter Three," Hank's worsening condition from the Omega Machine strains the fragile peace in San Francisco as Hellion leads a protest against the Dark X-Men's crackdown. With tensions boiling, Cyclops confronts Osborn, demanding he leave mutants in peace, while Emma, furious at the treatment of her people, searches for answers—only to be blinded by Dark Beast’s illusions, even as Xavier stands before her, begging for help.
In "Utopia Chapter Four," Cyclops leads a reconnaissance team to study Emma Frost’s forces, uncovering a surprising shift as the Dark X-Men and Dark Avengers unite against a common threat—Simon Trask’s robotic infected humans. Meanwhile, Magik teams up with X-Force in their classic uniforms, Wolverine moves through the shadows, Dani Moonstar heads to Vegas on a risky mission, and Psylocke guides the X-Club toward a vast, enigmatic structure beneath the Pacific.
In "Utopia Chapter Five," Norman's X-Men hold firm over the West Coast as he readies the Avengers for departure, but the real X-Men break free from captivity, and X-Force storms in to stop the Dark X-Men’s atrocities. With Emma and Namor exposing their betrayal, they flee to join Cyclops on his new Utopia platform in San Francisco Bay, where he vows to create a sanctuary for mutants—just as Norman gathers his forces for a final confrontation.
In the climactic chapter of *Avengers / X-Men: Utopia*, Norman Osborn’s Avengers launch a full-scale assault on the mutant sanctuary of Utopia, forcing the remaining X-Men to defend their new home off the San Francisco coast. As the battle rages and the lines between factions blur, Pixie’s defiant declaration—“We're all X-Men now”—marks a turning point in the struggle for mutant identity and survival. With Osborn forced to retreat, Cyclops stands firm, declaring Utopia a sanctuary for all mutants.
In "Suppressing Fire Part 1," Rogue, Gambit, and Danger find themselves in the thick of the San Francisco mutant riots, caught in a storm of chaos and violence. As Rogue clashes with the new Ms. Marvel and narrowly escapes, the trio faces off against the god of war Ares—only to turn the tide when Rogue absorbs his power through touch.
