X-Men: Deadly Genesis #1
X-Men: Deadly Genesis #1 (2006) kicks off a gripping six-part saga with a high-stakes premise: after the Scarlet Witch’s reality-warping event, a long-dormant mutant awakens aboard a derelict satellite and rockets back to Earth, furious to find himself in the 21st century. As Cyclops, Wolverine, and Rachel face off against this newly arrived force, the mystery deepens on Muir Isle, where Banshee uncovers a chilling recording from Moira. Written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Trevor Hairsine, with bold colors by Val Staples and sharp inks by Kris Justice, the issue sets a tense, urgent tone, all wrapped in a striking cover by Marc Silvestri and Joe Weems.

When the Scarlet Witch negated the powers of most of the mutants on Earth, the energy she released woke up a mutant on an orbiting piece of space debris: a mutant who becomes very, very angry when he realizes what century it is. He enters a nearby space shuttle and uses it to rocket back to the planet. Meanwhile, the mysterious awakening burns out Cerebra and knocks Emma unconscious. Cyclops, Wolverine and Rachel investigate the shuttle crash and are quickly defeated by the powerful mutant. On Muir Isle, Banshee finds an old tape in which Moira reveals a terrible secret.
