Wolverine #31
In "Killing Zone," Wolverine faces a deadly new threat when a Yakuza crime boss, Dai-Kumo, schemes to exploit a protected Madripoor spider monkey for a secret project—though the truth behind the so-called cure is far more sinister. With a lethal new drug called Thunderbolt spreading through the streets, and a team of assassins enhanced by it closing in, the only one who can stop them is Patch. Written by Larry Hama and brought to life with sharp, intense art by Marc Silvestri—inked by Dan Green and colored by Glynis Oliver—this 1990 issue delivers a pulse-pounding clash of street-level danger and moral stakes, all wrapped in a cover by Silvestri and Green.

Yakuza crime boss Dai-Kumo meets with the Prince to ask if they can capture a protected Madripoor spider monkey as he claims Dr. Malheur, in his employ, can make a cure for cancer from its brain. What they really make is a deadly drug called Thunderbolt which kills the user after a single dose. As he figures Patch is the only person who can put a hitch in the plan, Dai-Kumo sends a cadre of assassins to kill him. Three Yakuza hopped up on the designer drug almost succeed.
