Bryan Hitch

Bryan Hitch, born 22 April 1970 in Britain, has built one of the most visually ambitious careers in mainstream comics over nearly four decades. He broke in during the late 1980s through Marvel UK, contributing to titles including Action Force and Death's Head, before his work crossed the Atlantic and found a wider audience.

It was his run on Wildstorm's Stormwatch and then The Authority that established his reputation for cinematic, widescreen storytelling — a style that would come to define a generation of superhero comics. That approach translated powerfully to his work on DC's JLA and later Marvel's The Ultimates, where his meticulously detailed, large-scale compositions helped reimagine the Avengers for a new era. He has contributed across a remarkable range of titles over the years, including The Batman's Grave and Hawkman, functioning variously as artist, inker, colorist, and writer across more than 450 credited issues.

Hitch's visual influence has extended well beyond the printed page. His artwork and character designs informed animated productions and major feature films, most notably J. J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek, which earned him direct praise from the director.
