Karl Story

Karl Story is an American comic book inker born in 1967, whose career stretching back to 1988 has made him one of the more quietly essential craftsmen in mainstream comics. A founding member of Atlanta's Gaijin Studios, Story built his reputation through consistent, high-quality work across both major publishers and creator-driven imprints over more than three and a half decades.

His bibliography is notably wide-ranging, spanning superhero staples like Nightwing, Batman, X-Men, Black Panther, and Legionnaires to more adventurous projects such as Alan Moore and Chris Sprouse's Tom Strong, Terra Obscura, and Ocean, as well as Warren Ellis's Midnighter. He also contributed to genre crossover titles including Aliens versus Predator and Star Trek: Debt of Honor. Among his most sustained contributions is his work on Nightwing and Tom Strong, two titles where his inking appears most frequently across his catalog of over 340 credited issues.

Story has demonstrated a particular versatility in adapting his line work to suit very different artistic styles, whether supporting superhero action or the cleaner, retro-tinged aesthetic of WildStorm's America's Best Comics line.
