Legion of Super-Heroes Annual #5

Part of DC's 1994 Elseworlds line, this Legion of Super-Heroes Annual drops the 30th-century team into a fairy-tale reimagining that's hard to resist. Stuart Immonen's pencils (inked by Karl Story) place a red-haired girl clutching a small child at the center, flanked by a helmeted robot figure, a green-skinned young Legionnaire, and a large lion-like creature — all huddled nervously at the entrance to a "Haunted Forest" whose warning sign reads "I'd Turn Back If I Were You." Dark, grasping shadow-hands stretch through the twisted trees above them, setting a wonderfully eerie storybook mood that perfectly suits the Elseworlds premise.
