Legionnaires #15

The cover of Legionnaires #15 says it all with its tagline "All Choked Up!" — a Legion member in his colorful costume is completely engulfed by enormous, fleshy pink tentacles, his expression caught somewhere between terror and desperation. Jeff Moy's pencils and Karl Story's inks make the threat feel viscerally suffocating, filling the entire cover with writhing organic mass that leaves our hero precious little room to breathe. With the Bierbaums scripting and a story titled "Worst Nightmares," this 1994 issue promises exactly the kind of harrowing sci-fi horror the Legion does so well.
