About this Collection

This collection launches the acclaimed 2016 Black Panther series by Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze, following T'Challa as he grapples with a fractured Wakanda after a massive uprising. The story explores themes of leadership and legacy, featuring key characters like Shuri, Ramonda, and a brief encounter with Steve Rogers as Captain America. It collects Black Panther (2016) #1-4 and material from Free Comic Book Day 2016 (Civil War II).

In "A Nation Under Our Feet, Part 1," Ta-Nehisi Coates and Chris Sprouse launch a bold new era for Black Panther, diving into the escalating conflict within Wakanda as Tetu and Zenzi stand firm with the rebellion. With T'Challa confronting the shadowy origins of a terrorist attack linked to Ezekiel Stane and Tony Stark, and Shuri venturing deeper into the Djalia, the stakes for Wakanda’s future rise with every page. The cover by Brian Stelfreeze captures the tension in bold, striking detail.

Tetu and Zenzi continue to provide support for the Wakandan rebellion, including aiding the Midnight Angels against a counterstrike by T'Challa's secret police. T'Challa consults with Tony Stark on the tech he found on the suicide bombers earlier, and they identify Ezekiel Stane as the likely source. T'Challa tracks Stane and attacks his forces, allowing himself to be captured. T'Challa's sister Shuri continues her journey through the Djalia.
