Lucio Parrillo was born on 30 January 1974 in Italy, and is best known for his lush, painterly covers for comic books, role-playing games, and *Magic: The Gathering* cards. He entered the comics field after establishing himself as a fantasy illustrator, bringing a classical fine-art sensibility to the medium. Parrillo is most closely associated with Dynamite Entertainment, where he became the defining cover artist for *Vampirella*, *Red Sonja*, and *Sacred Six*, often working with writers like Mark Russell and Christopher Priest. His signature style—richly detailed, cinematic compositions with a strong sense of light and shadow—made his covers instantly recognizable. He also contributed interior art and covers to *Vengeance of Vampirella*, *Evil Ernie: Godeater*, and the crossover *Vampirella / Dracula: Rage*. Active from 2008 through 2025, he has been credited on over 100 issues. Parrillo’s work has earned him multiple nominations for the Eagle Award and the Harvey Award. He continues to be a sought-after cover artist, and his influence is visible in the resurgence of painted comic book art.
