In Red Sonja: Revenge of the Gods #4 (2011), the fate of the world hangs in the balance as Loki unleashes ancient horrors by wielding Trius' ring to open the gates imprisoning demons. With Sonja, Thor, and Toren locked in battle against Fenrir, the fiery giant Surtr is sent to destroy the Tree of Life—defended by Thor’s brother, Lord Gamble—forcing Thor to make a desperate choice when he learns of the threat to Wodinaz. Written by Luke Lieberman and illustrated by Daniel Sampere, with colors by Slamet Mujiono and letters by Simon Bowland, the issue’s dramatic tension is perfectly captured in Lucio Parrillo’s striking cover.
