History

The series was announced at New York Comic Con in October 2023 as part of a new Dynamite Entertainment partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery, with the creative team of writer Declan Shalvey, artist Drew Moss, and letterer Jeff Eckleberry confirmed at launch. Both Shalvey and Moss are self-described ThunderCats fans, and the series was conceived as an origin-era story set in the ThunderCats' earliest days on Third Earth, leaning into the property's science-fiction underpinnings rather than treating it as purely action-adventure. The series debuted in February 2024 and ran monthly, with issue #14 arriving in late March 2025 — placing it roughly at the midpoint of what would become a 25-issue run before transitioning to crossover event territory.
