Queen Sonja #3

Jan 2010 · Dynamite Entertainment · 2.99 USD

In Queen Sonja #3, written by Joshua Ortega and illustrated by Mel Rubi, the warrior queen and her growing band of freed slaves launch a bold assault on Issenni, the capital of Sogaria, seizing control from Governor Skalia. With a new army at her back and the future of the realm hanging in the balance, Sonja names Elanna, the last of the royal line, as her successor—only for the moment to be shattered by a sudden, deadly arrow. The cover, by Lucio Parrillo, captures the tension of that shocking turn.

Sonja and her small band of allies begin to free hordes of people from the Emoran slave camps and she soon finds herself with a veritable army of the disaffected. Now, well armed and with a host at her command, she marches on Issenni, capital of Sogaria, and takes it from Governor Skalia. She tells Elanna, eldest of the royal line, to prepare to become the next queen right before the girl is shot through the throat with an arrow.
