The Dynamite ThunderCats series was announced at NYCC 2023 with writer Declan Shalvey and artist Drew Moss (with letterer Jeff Eckleberry) as the creative team, both self-described superfans of the original property, working under a Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products license. The series launched in February 2024 to extraordinary commercial response, with issue #1 surpassing 180,000 copies in initial orders and going back to press for a third printing — a rare occurrence for Dynamite. By issue #16 (May 2025), Shalvey and Moss had deepened the mythology enough to launch the Knights of Thundera arc, which issue #19 concludes; the original cover D/P slot for that issue was originally planned for Drew Moss art but was ultimately filled by Alfredo Cardona, a minor production change documented in the ThunderCats wiki.
