History

The revival of SilverHawks in comics was driven less by corporate strategy than by a single persistent advocate: writer Ed Brisson lobbied Dynamite editor Nate Cosby and ThunderCats writer Declan Shalvey for the assignment from the moment Dynamite's ThunderCats line launched, and the project was formally announced at New York Comic Con in October 2024 as part of Dynamite's broader licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. Brisson, whose prior Dynamite work included the ThunderCats: Apex one-shot, was paired with George Kambadais — an artist who had already demonstrated his facility with animated-property revivals on Dynamite's Gargoyles series. The SilverHawks series ran for ten issues before feeding into a fifteen-issue ThunderCats x SilverHawks crossover event, making issues #1 and #2 the foundational pieces of an expanding shared universe.
