Bob Larkin

Bob Larkin, born July 10, 1949, is an American comics artist best known for his painted covers for Marvel Comics' magazine-format titles during the 1970s and early 1980s, as well as his 32 covers for Bantam Books' paperback reissues of the *Doc Savage* pulp novels. His work appears on 50 credited issues between 1975 and 2018, with his most frequent credits on *La Espada Salvaje de Conan el Bárbaro*, *Conan*, *Marvel Classics Comics*, *Crazy*, and *Apenplaneet* (the Dutch edition of *Planet of the Apes*). Larkin's path into comics began in the 1970s, when his dynamic, painterly style—marked by vivid color and dramatic lighting—made him a natural fit for the magazine-sized books that required striking, standalone cover imagery. His collaborations with Marvel's editorial team on titles like *Planet of the Apes* and *Conan* helped define the visual identity of those series. Later in his career, Larkin continued to produce cover art for various publishers, maintaining a consistent presence in the field until the late 2010s. While he did not receive major industry awards widely documented, his body of work remains a touchstone for fans of pulp-inspired fantasy and science fiction illustration.
