“Any Old Way to Make a Buck”

Marvel's humor magazine lives up to its tagline — "The Magazine That Dares to Be Dumb" — with this wonderfully self-aware 1981 cover by Bob Larkin, featuring painted likenesses of Clint Eastwood and his cigar-chomping chimpanzee companion, the latter sporting a skull-and-crossbones military beret. A mock editorial note pinned to the image cheekily instructs the art director to get them on the cover "Any Which Way You Can," perfectly setting the tone for Paul Kupperberg and Bob Camp's interior comedy, "Any Old Way to Make a Buck.
