In "De dödas legioner," young Conan joins Jarl Njal’s band of Aesir on a perilous mission into the frozen reaches of Hyperborea to rescue Njal’s daughter, Rann, taken by the Witch-men of the Haloga fort. After a scouting party is brutally captured and killed, Conan infiltrates the fortress, rescuing Rann before she is overtaken by the undead legion summoned by the enigmatic Queen Vammatar. As the dead rise in pursuit, Rann flees into the wilderness while Conan is seized—his fate now entwined with the horrors of the frozen north.
