In "Jakten på Lumas alter," Conan and a band of mercenaries face a series of brutal trials meant to crown one among them as the chosen seeker of the Shrine of Luma. As trust erodes and alliances shift, Conan uncovers a web of deceit—someone among them is betraying the group, working in secret with the nobility to assassinate the king.

In the dusty city of Makkalet, Conan and Red Sonja clash in a bar brawl that spirals into a wild chase through temple ruins. After bathing in a fountain and scaling crumbling walls, they steal a cursed snake-tiara—only to face a monstrous magical serpent guarding it. As the fight ends, Sonja outwits Conan with a cunning trick, leaving him behind as she sets off for Pah-Disha.
