John Verpoorten

Born on May 15, 1940, John Verpoorten was an American comics professional who became one of Marvel Comics' most important behind-the-scenes figures during a transformative stretch of the company's history. He died on December 15, 1977, at just thirty-seven years old.

Verpoorten is best remembered as Marvel's production manager during the latter years of the Silver Age, a period when the publisher was growing rapidly from a modest operation into a major force in popular culture.
