Captain America : L'intégrale #1973
This volume collects Captain America stories from 1973, continuing the French comprehensive reprint series. It includes issues from the era when Steve Englehart and Sal Buscema were crafting the Sentinel of Liberty's adventures, featuring classic Bronze Age tales with the Falcon and other familiar foes.
A 2017 French-language edition from Panini France, this issue features Captain America in a story titled "Veni, Vidi, Vici : Vipère !" with writing by Steve Englehart, Steve Gerber, and Makma, and art by Sal Buscema, with inks by John Verpoorten, colors by Petra Goldberg, and letters by Laurence Hingray and Christophe Semal. The cover is illustrated by Jim Starlin and Joe Sinnott.
In "Veni, Vidi, Vici" : Vipère !, Captain America is pulled into a deadly game when the Commissioner calls on him to unmask the mysterious Cowled Commander just before a bomb tears through the precinct. With Falcon racing to the scene after hearing of Cap’s presumed death, he confronts the Viper, who claims responsibility and strikes with a poisoned dart—only for Captain America to arrive moments later, demanding the antidote, only to fall victim himself as the Viper vanishes into the shadows.
In "Tournant décisif !", Captain America and Falcon face off against the Cowled Commander’s elite enforcers, only to discover the villain has taken their girlfriends hostage. As the battle reaches its climax, the true identity of the Commander delivers a twist that reshapes everything they thought they knew.
In "La furie de Solar !", Captain America’s newly enhanced strength strains his partnership with Sam Wilson, especially after Steve effortlessly overpowers the sun-powered warrior Solarr in a single clash. Meanwhile, Sharon Carter faces a quiet but pivotal moment as she prepares to vanish from the city, leaving behind a web of unspoken choices and shifting loyalties.
In "L'asile des âmes perdues," Captain America and the Falcon set aside their growing rift to track down the missing Sharon Carter, abducted by the enigmatic Dr. Faustus. With trust strained and time running short, their uneasy alliance leads them into a hidden network of secrets and deception.
In "La voie de la folie !", Dr. Faustus unleashes a twisted illusion of World War II, trapping Captain America, Falcon, and Sharon in a fabricated past where Peggy Carter—Sharon’s long-lost sister—reclaims her memories. As the fabricated history unfolds, the true cost of Faustus’s experiment begins to unravel, testing the limits of loyalty, identity, and the past’s grip on the present.
In "Attention aux serpents !", Captain America and the Falcon accompany Peggy to her home in Virginia, hoping to help her settle after her unexpected return. But their quiet moment is shattered when the newly formed Serpent Squad launches a sudden, coordinated assault.
In "La reine des loups-garous !", Falcon answers a desperate call from an old friend, pulling Captain America into a mysterious hunt through the woods where werewolves, eerily synchronized and led by a striking young woman, stalk the night. With no clear motive and a chilling precision to their attacks, the duo must unravel the truth behind her command before the full moon claims more lives.
In "Le retour de Griffe jaune," Nick Fury warns Steve and Sam that the Yellow Claw has resurfaced—only to insist SHIELD deal with the threat. But when Captain America returns to New York, he’s drawn into the villain’s web, where twisted illusions blur reality and leave Cap facing a horrifying moment that puts Fury’s life in jeopardy.
In "La nuit des morts vivaces !", Captain America fights to reclaim his mind from the Yellow Claw’s control, racing to save Nick Fury and uncover a mystery that leads him from a forgotten apartment to a city teetering on the edge of chaos. As Peggy disappears without a trace and the streets of New York grow colder, a sinister resurrection begins at the Museum of Natural History—where ancient mummies rise, and a long-dead princess is reborn to serve a twisted new purpose.
In "De la poussière à la poussière !", Captain America and the Falcon race against time to free Suwan from the ancient Egyptian princess possessed by the Yellow Claw, while teaming up with a recovering Nick Fury and his agents to unravel the villain’s deadly scheme. With traps and shadows closing in, the heroes must outthink a foe who wields both forgotten magic and modern malice.
