“L'imposteur”

In "L'imposteur," the real Captain America is nowhere to be found as a fake Cap and a young Bucky kidnap the Falcon, subjecting him to brutal interrogation. With help from allies like Rafe and Leila—people he’s aided in the past—the Falcon escapes and races to Avengers Mansion, only to discover the impostor has been watching them all along and now knows where Steve and Sharon are hiding. Written by Steve Englehart and illustrated with dynamic precision by Sal Buscema, with inks by John Verpoorten and Tony Mortellaro, the cover by Sal Buscema and Jim Mooney captures the tension of a hero’s identity under siege—a 7,000 FRF comic from 1980 that stands as a pivotal moment in the series.
