Conan le barbare : L'intégrale #1970-1971
This first volume of Panini France's integral collection reprints the earliest Conan the Barbarian stories from the 1970-1971 period, originally published by Marvel Comics. It gathers the debut issues of the classic series, featuring the foundational work of writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith that brought Robert E. Howard's Cimmerian to the comic book medium. The collection presents these seminal adventures in French, offering a comprehensive look at the character's transition from pulp prose to sequential art.
In "Le glaive et les sorciers !", novelist Len Carson attempts to end his beloved sword and sorcery saga by killing off his fictional hero, Starr the Slayer—but when Starr awakens in the real world, he fights back to survive. The story unfolds as a chilling twist on creator and creation, where myth and reality clash in a deadly game of power and defiance.
In "Le crépuscule du sinistre dieu gris !", Conan encounters the enigmatic Grey God Borri, setting him on a path that leads to the front lines of a brutal war. As he fights alongside the Brythunian army, he confronts betrayal and witnesses the grim, otherworldly justice of the winged Choosers of the Slain.
In the shadowed streets of Shadizar, Conan encounters the enigmatic waitress Jenna, whose beauty masks a perilous fate when she’s seized by fanatical priests bound for a sacrificial rite to a nameless night god. When the god is revealed as a monstrous, bat-winged entity, Conan must fight through dread and darkness to rescue her—only for Jenna to outwit him in turn, stealing his gold and vanishing into the night.
In "Un rôdeur dans l'ombre," Conan is drawn into a deadly game when Lady Aztrias of Numalia hires him to steal a mysterious bowl from the wealthy merchant Kallian. After breaking into Kallian’s home and finding both the bowl empty and the merchant dead, Conan is framed by Aztrias as the killer—only to discover the true threat lies within the bowl itself: a serpent-man with a human head. As the city guard closes in, Conan must fight not only the creature but the shadow of a sorcerer’s will, glimpsed in a haunting vision.
In "Les gardiens de la crypte," Conan stumbles upon the ruined city of Lanjau, where he fights a monstrous lizard before joining forces with a nameless mercenary to claim its lost treasure. As they navigate the sunlit ruins haunted by undead guardians, the earth itself begins to shift—swallowing the city and its secrets in an unexpected quake. With the mercenary lost and the treasure buried, Conan finds himself once more on the run, this time alongside Jenna, fleeing soldiers on horseback into the unknown.
