The Eternals #1
From the mind of Jack Kirby — penciled by him and inked by Frank Giacoia — this July 1976 launch of The Eternals announces itself with unmistakable cosmic ambition. The cover is dominated by a massive, glowering stone face with gleaming yellow eyes, the colossal visage of an ancient Space God looming over a trio of human figures who stare in awe at a blazing light erupting from the stars beyond. Speech balloons crackle with urgency — "We've found it — the Tomb of the Space Gods!" and "The Gods are coming back!" — setting a tone of grand mythological discovery that feels genuinely thrilling. With the tagline "When Gods Walk the Earth," this first issue wastes no time signaling that Kirby's long-awaited cosmic series was built for stories on the grandest possible scale.
