It includes the classic 'Panther vs. the Klan' storyline, as well as the debut of the villainous Erik Killmonger, with art by Rich Buckler and Billy Graham. This hardcover edition presents these stories in restored color, as part of Marvel's archival Masterworks line.
In "King Solomon's Frog!", Black Panther teams up with fellow Collector Abner Little to reclaim the Brass Frog, an ancient time machine hidden away by the hero's grandfather, Azzuri. When the artifact is stolen by another Collector, Alfred Queely, the duo must defend it from Princess Zanda, who seeks to seize control. As tensions rise, the Frog activates unexpectedly, unleashing the enigmatic creature Hatch-22 into their midst.
In "The Six-Million Year Man," a mysterious time traveler named Hatch-22 demands to be returned to his own era, unleashing a mental assault on Princess Zanda’s forces. With the help of Abner Little, the Black Panther must unite with Zanda to journey to King Solomon’s tomb, where they seek the final piece of a lost time machine—the other Brass Frog—needed to send Hatch-22 home.
In "Race Against Time," Black Panther, Abner Little, and Princess Zanda race through the treacherous ruins of King Solomon's tomb, seeking the second Brass Frog to activate an ancient time machine. With danger at every turn and time itself unraveling, the trio must overcome deadly traps and ancient mysteries to complete the device before it’s too late.
In "Friends or Foes," the Black Panther and his companions flee the collapsing ruins of King Solomon's Tomb, only to find themselves in the kingdom of Narobia. There, they’re welcomed by Princess Zanda and introduced to a new circle of collectors—each with their own obsession, and one that leads them toward the fabled lost city of samurai.
In "A Cup of Youth," Black Panther and Abner Little race through the neon-lit streets of Samurai City, chasing whispers of a fabled water that promises eternal youth. Meanwhile, back in Wakanda, General Jakarra seizes power in a sudden coup, forcing T'Challa’s regent, N’Gassi, to flee — leaving the kingdom in chaos just as the hunt for the legendary elixir reaches its most dangerous turn.
In "Drums!", T'Challa uncovers the hidden origins of the Black Panther legacy and Wakanda’s sacred vibranium mound. After returning to the Collectors with Abner Little, the pair are drawn into a violent scramble over a stolen vial of miracle water from Samurai City—its contents shattered in the chaos. Back in Wakanda, General Jakarra’s desperate bid to harness vibranium’s power leads to a terrifying transformation, setting the stage for a crisis born from ambition and ancient power.
In "Panthers or Pussycats?", T'Challa returns to Wakanda to recall the trial by combat that forged his destiny as the Black Panther. As the royal family—Joshua Itobo, Ishanta, Khanata, and Zuni—answer N'Gassi’s call, they prepare to face the monstrous Jakarra, testing the strength and spirit of those who would lead.
In "This World Shall Die!", Black Panther races against time to prevent the transformed Jakarra from unleashing catastrophic destruction upon Wakanda’s vibranium mound, threatening not just his homeland but the entire world. With the fate of Earth hanging in the balance, the Black Panther must confront a foe pushed beyond the edge of humanity.
In "Kiber the Cruel," T'Challa, newly awakened to psychic abilities after his encounter with Jakarra, must race to rescue Khanata, who's been taken by the ruthless Kiber—a man who drains humans of their life force to fuel his own existence. With the fate of a captive in his hands and his powers still untested, T'Challa faces a threat that turns the very essence of life into a weapon.
In "What Is... And What Should Never Be," the Black Panther confronts Kiber, a scientist whose experiments have fused him with the very fabric of his laboratory floor, turning him into a living conduit of unstable energy. As Kiber threatens to convert more lives into raw power, the Panther must stop him before the energy drain consumes another soul—then decide what to do with the last remaining source of life force, leaving Kiber to face the consequences of his own creation.
In "The Beasts in the Jungle!", T'Challa, newly arrived in New York City to open a Wakandan mission at the U.N., grapples with the heightened instincts forged by his vibranium exposure—sensing a looming crisis rooted in America. As he patrols the city, he intercepts a disoriented Klaw, his sound horn stolen by a rogue Thunderbolts street gang, while a trio of unexpected arrivals—Monica Lynne, Kevin Trublood, and Windeagle—begin to converge on the same chaotic scene.
In "Revenge of the Black Panther!", the Black Panther teams up with Captain America to take down the Thunderbolts street gang, who are wielding Klaw’s stolen sonic device. As Klaw’s fading powers drive him to manipulate the gang for a desperate comeback, the duo must stop him before his vengeance reshapes Wakanda’s fate. With Monica and Kevin arriving at the Wakandan consulate and Windeagle closing in, the stakes rise in a battle where sound, power, and legacy collide.
In "The Killing of Windeagle!", the Black Panther faces a deadly assault at the Wakandan consulate in New York City when the mysterious Windeagle strikes without warning. As the battle unfolds, T'Challa is haunted by fragmented memories of a past investigation into the death of Monica Lynne's sister in Georgia—memories now mysteriously erased. When Windeagle, a cult agent tied to the Dragon Circle, resumes his attack, he meets a sudden end at the hands of an unseen shooter.
In "Journey Through the Past," T'Challa delves into a dark secret linking the Dragon Circle to the Ku Klux Klan, uncovering a chilling connection that forces him to infiltrate a Klan gathering. As he moves through the shadows, he must confront both the organization’s violent ideology and the dangerous Soul Strangler, testing his resolve in a battle that reaches deep into the past.
In "The Ending, in Anger!", T'Challa confronts a web of conspiracy and supernatural threat in Georgia, unraveling the truth behind the murders of Angela Lynne and Windeagle. As he battles the Soul Strangler and pieces together his own forgotten past, he faces down the leaders of the Klan and the Dragon Circle, determined to bring justice to a town steeped in secrets.
