Amazing Adventures #2 is the second chapter of Marvel's bold 1970 split-title experiment, pairing Jack Kirby's Inhumans with the Black Widow's first-ever ongoing solo feature — a format that gave two previously supporting-cast characters room to breathe as co-headliners. The Inhumans story deepens Black Bolt's conflict with the Fantastic Four, planting seeds of royal-family drama that would define the characters for decades, while the Black Widow's "Young Warriors" chapter — written by Gary Friedrich and drawn by John Buscema — begins grounding Natasha Romanoff in contemporary urban, socially aware storytelling far removed from her spy-thriller origins. Amazing Adventures Vol. 2 launched in August 1970 as a split anthology under Stan Lee's editorship, with Kirby simultaneously writing and drawing the Inhumans half as one of the few concrete deliverables from a December 1969 contract renegotiation trip he made to Marvel's New York offices from his new California home — negotiations that ultimately failed and led directly to his departure for DC Comics. By the time the series reached issue #5, Kirby was gone from Marvel entirely, meaning issues #1–4 represent the final burst of his Inhumans work at the company. The Black Widow feature was handed to writer Gary Friedrich and penciler John Buscema from the outset, with John Verpoorten on inks for issue #2.

The Black Widow story arc launched in this series continued through issue #8, after which Natasha moved to a co-starring role in Daredevil beginning with issue #81.
The Black Widow story from this issue has been reprinted in Black Widow: The Sting of the Widow (2009), The Black Widow Strikes Omnibus (2019), the Black Widow Epic Collection Vol. 1 (2019), True Believers: Black Widow – Amazing Adventures #1 (December 2020), and the Daredevil Omnibus Vol. 3 (2023); the Inhumans story was reprinted in The Inhumans #9 (February 1977).
