Brian K. Vaughan

Brian K. Vaughan, born July 17, 1976, is an American comics writer and television producer whose influence on the medium stretches across more than two decades of consistent, ambitious output. He is perhaps best recognized for the sprawling science-fiction epic *Saga* and the post-apocalyptic drama *Y: The Last Man*, though his catalog — spanning 436 credited issues between 1998 and 2025 — also includes *Ex Machina*, *Paper Girls*, *Runaways*, and *Swamp Thing*.

What distinguishes Vaughan's comics work is a commitment to finite, structured storytelling: each series is conceived with a clear beginning, middle, and end, a philosophy he has articulated as a pointed contrast to the perpetual serialization of superhero publishing.
