Paper Girls #23 delivers one of the series' most striking covers: a platinum-haired figure in a dramatic oversized black coat pulls it open to reveal a galaxy-patterned jumpsuit with circular adornments, her expression fierce and triumphant against a retro pink-striped background. Cliff Chiang's clean, confident linework is at its best here, with Matt Wilson's color palette — deep purples, cosmic blues, and glowing pinks — giving the whole image a 1980s-futurist energy that feels completely at home in Brian K. Vaughan's time-bending world. A visually arresting chapter in one of Image Comics' most distinctive ongoing series of 2018.
