“Tag Chapter Four”

Ex Machina #9 brings Brian K. Vaughan's grounded superhero saga to the fourth chapter of "Tag," with Tony Harris delivering a striking cover of a costumed figure — goggled helmet, flowing cape, and a glowing handheld device — striding confidently across what appears to be a suspension bridge. Mysterious graffiti-like script sprawls across the bottom of the image, tying the visual to what seems to be a story steeped in street-level tension and urban mystery. Harris's linework bathes the scene in warm amber and deep shadow, making this 2005 WildStorm issue a genuinely compelling entry in one of that era's most thoughtful superhero series.
