Paper Girls #12

Paper Girls #12 delivers one of the series' most striking covers: a ground-level view of a figure's scuffed, laced boots and torn purple jeans stretched out across an alien-looking teal landscape, with a strange pockmarked coral-red sky stretching to the horizon. The disorienting perspective pulls you right into the otherworldly unease that Cliff Chiang renders so vividly, with Matt Wilson and Dee Cunniffe's surreal color palette making the scene feel both dreamlike and unsettling. Brian K. Vaughan's time-bending series continues to find fresh visual angles — sometimes literally — and this 2017 Image Comics release is a fine example of the whole creative team firing on all cylinders.
