Swamp Thing #3

This third issue of Vertigo's 2000 Swamp Thing series opens with a striking painted cover by Phil Hale: a pale, white-haired woman stares back over her shoulder with an unsettling intensity, a dark ship looming in the mist behind her. The atmosphere is quietly menacing — more slow dread than outright horror — perfectly suited to the "Suggested for Mature Readers" label and the series' brooding sensibility. Brian K. Vaughan writes, with interior art by Roger Petersen and inks by Joe Rubinstein, making this a compelling chapter from a creative team clearly committed to something thoughtful and unnerving.
