Fiona Staples's cover for Saga Chapter Forty Two is a breathtaking image of a figure suspended within a massive, crystalline chunk of ice or rock drifting through deep space, surrounded by warring spacecraft trading laser fire in every direction. The frozen mass glows with cool blues and whites against the void, suggesting both fragility and strange beauty amid an all-out space battle. Brian K. Vaughan and Staples continue to deliver one of Image Comics' most visually distinctive series, and this 2017 chapter looks every bit as ambitious as the long journey that brought it here.
