In "null," Erin is shot in the stomach, and the Paper Girls race to get her to a hospital, their urgency cutting through the usual rhythms of their time-traveling routine. Along the way, they’re ambushed by a Restorer intent on erasing their memories—only for the Teenagers Heck and Naldo to intervene, turning the tide in a moment of sudden, violent confrontation.
In "null," the Paper Girls are forced into the sewers by a group of hostile Teenagers, fleeing both their pursuers and the looming threat of the Old-Timers. As the Teenagers close in, Grand Father Jahpo dispatches an editrix to track them down, turning the underground labyrinth into a deadly game of cat and mouse. With Erin injured, the girls make a desperate escape, taking her aboard their timeship to reach safety and begin her recovery.
In "null," Erin awakens in the basement of the house where the Paper Girls first found the time machine, having been brought back by Naldo and Heck after their journey through time. As the group reunites, the Old Timers assault the time machine during their descent, leading to the deaths of Naldo and Heck. With the house now a crater and the Grand Father Jahpo and Restorer Cardinal closing in, the girls face an uncertain future—where the machine once stood, only emptiness remains.
