Superman Annual #12

Part of DC's 2000 "Planet DC" annuals initiative, this issue sends Superman south of the border for a story written by Oscar Pinto, Francisco Haghenbeck, and Brian K. Vaughan, with interior art by Carlo Barberi. The cover by Humberto Ramos and Wayne Faucher is a lively showcase — Superman stands tall over a map of Mexico alongside three new characters called out by name: Iman, El Muerto, and Acrata, a striking armored green figure and a bald man also visible in the mix. It's a vivid introduction to what the cover boldly calls "the newest heroes south of the border.
