Runaways #17
Runaways #17 brings the five-part "The Good Die Young" arc to its conclusion with a cover by Jo Chen that is genuinely hard to look away from — a young person is caught in a violent swirling vortex of churning water, mouth open in desperate panic, while another hand reaches down from above as though attempting a rescue. The composition pulls your eye straight into that spiraling chaos, making the stakes feel immediate and visceral. Brian K. Vaughan, Adrian Alphona, Craig Yeung, and Christina Strain round out a creative team that made this 2004 Marvel series one of the most talked-about books of its era.
