Longhorns: A Complete Novel by William Patterson White occupies the opening pages of this Adventure Magazine issue. Set at the Bar-S ranch, the story follows Chuck Morgan, a rancher confronted with stolen goods from the bunkhouse—missing pants, boots, spurs, a pearl-handled six-shooter, and other valuables. After the outfit falsely accuses the Kid of the thefts, Chuck deduces the prankster's innocence by noting he doesn't flee. Sent by foreman Loudon to evict nesters from the C-Y shack at Moccasin Spring, Chuck encounters a Piegan Indian named Willie's Old Brother-in-Law. The Indian reports suspicious activity: a man called "Cutnose" Canter and two companions riding around the ranch at night. The issue's contents page lists ten additional stories, including Edgar Ewing's "The Ninth Man" (jungle adventure in Peru and Bolivia seeking Spanish gold) and Harold Titus's "Appreciating Peter" (about displaced labor in New York).
Each page has its own page — the cartoon, who’s in it, and what the satire means.
