Ron Marz was born on November 17, 1965, and has built a substantial career as one of American comics' more versatile and prolific writers. He broke into the industry around 1990 and over the following three-and-a-half decades accumulated credits on more than 700 issues across a wide range of publishers and genres.
Green Lantern #50 (1994)
He is perhaps best recognized for his long tenure on Green Lantern, during which he introduced Kyle Rayner as a new bearer of the ring — a storyline that proved both influential and, at the time, genuinely controversial among readers. His work on Silver Surfer helped define that character's cosmic melancholy for a generation of fans, and his contributions to the DC vs. Marvel crossover event gave him a prominent place in one of the medium's most ambitious publisher collaborations.
Silver Surfer Annual #3 (1990)
Marz also demonstrated a sustained commitment to CrossGen's fantasy line in the early 2000s, writing Scion, Sojourn, and Mystic with considerable consistency. His longest single-title association, however, is with Witchblade at Top Cow Productions, where his extended run reshaped the book's direction and tone.
Silver Surfer #42 (1990)
Across his career he has worked in superhero, fantasy, horror, and crossover formats, showing a range that few writers of his generation have matched in sheer breadth of output.
