Enraged by the murder of his girlfriend Alex, Kyle battles her killer, Major Force, until the Los Angeles Special Crimes Unit breaks them up. Still seething, Kyle returns home where he meets former Green Lantern Alan Scott, who tells him about Hal Jordan, from his origin as Green Lantern to his descent into madness as Parallax. Later, Superman and Metron of the New Gods appear to enlist Kyle's help as the last Green Lantern.
