“Homecoming? Part Six”

In "Homecoming? Part Six," Kyle Rayner faces a devastating truth as Major Force confesses his role in the death of Kyle's mother—though not as he believed. Written by Ron Marz and illustrated by Luke Ross, with inks by Rodney Ramos, colors by Moose Baumann, and letters by Jared K. Fletcher, this pivotal issue sees Kyle surrender his Green Lantern ring only to reclaim it in fury when Major Force mocks his worth. The cover by Brandon Peterson captures the moment's intensity. With Earth offering no solace, Kyle sets off into the unknown reaches of space.

Major Force admits that he did not kill Kyle's mother as it at first appeared but tries to convince him to give up his Green Lantern ring anyway before another one of his loved ones really does get hurt. Kyle surrenders the ring but forcibly takes it back when Major Force insults him by telling him that the government will find someone who can actually wield it properly. Kyle defeats the un-killable Major Force by decapitating him and sending his head into orbit. Feeling there is nothing left on Earth, Kyle leaves for a journey into space.
