Green Lantern: A New Dawn #[nn]
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis collection kicks off the Kyle Rayner era of Green Lantern in a bold new direction, reprinting the early issues of his solo series after the fall of Hal Jordan. It follows the young artist as he inherits the last power ring and struggles to live up to the legacy of the Corps while facing new threats like the villainous Fatality. Written by Ron Marz with art by Darryl Banks, this volume marks a fresh start for the Emerald Knight in the late 1990s DC Universe.
In "null," a fractured Hal Jordan, consumed by rage and power, turns on Oa, overwhelming the Guardians and slaughtering Sinestro and Kilowog in brutal succession. With the Central Power Battery destroyed and the Guardians nearly wiped out, the last surviving Guardian, Ganthet, flees to Earth and entrusts the final power ring to a reluctant Kyle Rayner.
In "Forced Entry," Green Lantern is away handling a minor time paradox when Major Force returns to the house, turning the domestic scene into a chilling display of violence—his girlfriend’s body hidden in the fridge, a grim message meant to prove he’s serious about taking Kyle’s ring. The story unfolds with tense, visceral dread as the personal stakes escalate beyond the usual superhero clash.
In "Assault and Battery," a furious Kyle, consumed by grief after his girlfriend Alex is murdered, confronts her killer, Major Force, only to be separated by the Los Angeles Special Crimes Unit. Seeking answers, he returns home to meet the legendary Alan Scott, who recounts Hal Jordan’s rise and fall—from hero to Parallax—before Superman and Metron of the New Gods arrive to summon Kyle to a desperate mission as the last Green Lantern.
