“Le monstre est parmi nous !”

In "Le monstre est parmi nous !", the Silver Surfer faces a terrifying illusion: Thanos has conquered Earth, forged the planet Necronos, and imprisoned the Surfer as his archivist. After the Surfer takes his own life to escape, Thanos revives him—only for the entire nightmare to unravel as a mental test. Written by Ron Marz and illustrated by Ron Lim, Gavin Curtis, and Tom Christopher, with colors by Tom Vincent, this issue unfolds with chilling precision. The cover by John Byrne captures the moment’s dread, a striking visual that hints at the psychological battle within.

Thanos has defeated earth's heroes and created the planet of Necronos while stripping the Surfer of his powers and keeping him as his personal archivist. The Silver Surfer kills himself rather than serve Thanos, but the mad titan brings him back to life. This whole scenario turns out to be a fantasy in the Surfer's eye as he and Adam Warlock wait in reserve to attack Thanos.
