Irwin Hasen was an American cartoonist best known for co-creating the long-running newspaper strip *Dondi* with writer Gus Edson. Born on July 8, 1918, he began his career in comic books during the Golden Age, making his mark at DC Comics. Hasen is particularly remembered for his work on the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, and for creating the superhero Wildcat—a character who gains his abilities after reading a Green Lantern comic. His clean, energetic style defined many classic titles, including *All-American Comics*, *All-Star Comics*, *Sensation Comics*, and *Green Lantern*. He also contributed to *All Star Western* and later worked on international editions such as *Marvila, la Mujer Maravilla*. Hasen’s career spanned from 1940 until his death on March 13, 2015, with credits on over 100 issues as artist, inker, letterer, and writer. While he never received a major industry award, his influence endures through his Golden Age creations and the beloved *Dondi* strip, which ran for decades. Hasen’s legacy is that of a versatile craftsman who helped shape the early superhero landscape.
