When a sketch drawn by Dr. Mid-Nite—left behind by accident—catches the eye of the building’s charwoman, her nephew Elmer, a self-proclaimed amateur detective, takes it upon himself to solve the mystery, leading him to a startling conclusion that turns the JSA into suspects.
In "The Adventure of the Invisible Band, Part II," Hawkman and Black Canary team up with Dr. Mid-Nite and Wonder Woman to thwart the Invisible Band’s latest heist, but their efforts are repeatedly undermined by Elmer Doolittle, a well-meaning but misguided bystander whose interference keeps the real criminals one step ahead. From Gracy’s Department Store to an exclusive florist shop, the heroes race to protect valuable receipts—only to find their plans unraveling when Elmer, convinced they’re the culprits, unwittingly helps the band escape.
In "The Adventure of the Invisible Band, Part III," the JSA finds itself trapped by the elusive Invisible Band, who force Elmer to prove his loyalty by firing at seven targets—unaware that each one hides a Justice Society member. Meanwhile, the Atom and Flash track the band from a Mardi Gras gala to a wax museum, only to see them vanish into the shadows before Elmer intervenes and lets them slip away.
