From 1947, this June issue of Flash Comics presents a genuinely unsettling cover tableau titled "The Strange Case of 'The Changeling'"— a grinning, stocky figure in a convict's striped uniform stands triumphantly amid swirling clouds, flanked by a snarling tiger, a rhino, and a bear, while a red-jacketed hero reaches toward them in alarm. Cover art by Martin Naydel and Irwin Hasen brings a wonderfully eerie atmosphere to the scene, and the 68-page package — with interior work by Robert Kanigher and Chester Kozlak — makes this a compelling slice of mid-century DC adventure.
