“The Million Dollar Tennis Game”

In "The Million Dollar Tennis Game," Ted Grant, as Wildcat, steps in when a circus performance goes awry—first subduing an escaped leopard, then saving an aerialist from a deadly fall, and helping veteran Carl Rutig contain a rogue lion. When the chaos is traced to a vengeful saboteur, Jim Malley, whose father died in a circus accident, Wildcat intervenes to spare him from harsh punishment. The story unfolds with grounded tension and classic heroism, all drawn with crisp energy by Irwin Hasen, whose art brings the spectacle and stakes to life. The cover, by Harry Peter, captures the circus’s high-wire drama in bold, dynamic lines.

Ted Grant and Stretch Skinner see a poster for a circus. While there a leopard escapes and Ted, as Wildcat, gets it under control. He decides to oversee the performances, and saves an aerialist from falling to his death, and while veteran employee Carl Rutig forces an escaped lion back into its cage. The would-be saboteur is Jim Malley, whose father was killed in the circus and has set out to get revenge. Wildcat pleads for leniency with the owner, and Malley is 'sentenced' to twelve hours a day washing the elephants.
